Online Writer Workshops was created in response to a very real shift in the writing community.

In 2021, many writing chapters made the decision to disaffiliate from RWA. With that departure came the loss of a shared infrastructure writers had relied on for years, including the RWA forums that once served as a central place to promote workshops to a broad, engaged audience.

Overnight, chapters-turned-standalone-organizations were left marketing workshops on their own. Writers were left without a single place to discover learning opportunities beyond their immediate circles.

Online Writer Workshops was built to fill that gap.

Why We Continue to Exist

Today, Online Writer Workshops exists as a centralized hub for discovering live, online writing workshops offered by chapters, organizations, and independent presenters across the community.

For writers, it offers an easier way to find education, craft development, and professional growth opportunities, even if they are not yet associated with a writing organization.

For chapters and organizations, it enables wider visibility, stronger attendance, and a shared promotional space that supports the financial and educational work they do.

For presenters, it creates additional reach and connection with writers actively seeking workshops.

The structure of the writing community has changed. Access to education should not be lost in that change.

Online Writer Workshops supports what exists now: independent chapters, online learning, and a community that still benefits from shared visibility and connection.
